Johnny Nicholas Introduces the Hill Top Cafe’s Gospel Brunch Livestream Concert Series!

Join Johnny Nicholas and Katie Shore every Sunday for a very special livestream music series of the Hill Top Cafe’s Gospel Brunch – starting this Sunday (May 17th) and running until at least the end of June.

Each week will feature the music of a legendary American roots music artist as well as traditional and primitive Gospel favorites and original songs by Johnny and Katie. Photos and clips of the featured artists as well as interesting historical tidbits and lore will also be a part of each Sunday’s “Artist of the Week,” with more information about the artist posted to johnnynicholasblues.com.

This is going to be fun y’all, so join us live at Hill Top or tune in every Sunday at 12:00pm (noon) on Johnny’s Facebook page for a two hour trip down memory lane! Not to mention Johnny and Katie’s superb musicianship and original songs!

All served live at the legendary Hill Top Cafe along with some of the best food anywhere – for those of you who make the pilgrimage to this Hill country landmark! (Sorry, we haven’t figured out a way to send crab cakes benedict out over the airwaves, but we’re working on it!)

We will be kicking it off this week with the music of Pappa Link Davis—the original Cajun Crawdaddy. Pappa Link played with Harry Choates, Cliff Bruner, The Big Bopper, Johnny Preston, Moon Mulican and many more. He was a huge influence on Doug Sahm as evidenced in Doug’s vocal stylings and inflections. His son Link Jr. played with Doug was Johnny’s mentor and band mate in Asleep at the Wheel. Link Jr. introduced Johnny to Nathan Abshire and Dewey Balfa and was instrumental in preserving and showcasing great music from southwest Louisiana including, blues, cajun and swing. Looking forward to honoring this legendary artist with y’all in the house.

See ya this Sunday!
Johnny and Katie
